Controls are available that function as both a photocontrol and a cycling
lamp diagnostic system. These controls will detect HPS lamp cycling, take
an action such as turning OFF the power to the fixture, and alert the outside
world of the problem. The alert may be a simple flashing LED or more complicated
RF communication. An example of the first would be the DTL model DD124-1.5-TMA.
3.15 Reverse Controls
A reverse control turns the load ON during the day and OFF at night. Not
very common, they are used to control lights in tunnels or subway entrances
where brighter lights are needed during the day to reduce the "black
hole" effect. Reverse controls are also used to operate normally
closed contactors (relays) in multiple systems. If the control is stolen,
the contactor remains closed and the lights stay ON. Reverse controls
are also used to operate pumps on fountains on golf courses where daytime
only operation is needed. DTL preferred model is DPO124-1.5-TM.
